Trip to Boston

by Gilmar dos Santos, 8/08

I went to Boston a few weekends ago with my teacher, her husband, and two classmates. My classmates and I saw a lot of places, parks, big buildings, and the State House.

We had a good seafood lunch there, but when we were eating, my teacher was drinking my water! When she was almost done with my glass of water, I looked at her and I said, “I know you are drinking my water.” It was so funny!

After lunch, we walked some more and sat. My teacher said, "What are we going to do?" I said, "Ice cream" and we went to an ice cream parlor. I ordered four scoops of ice cream. It was very good and my teacher took pictures of me with my ice cream.

I got tired but I haven’t felt so happy for such a long time like I felt that day.

One thing more I have to say…that was my first time I rode a train.

Trip to Boston

by Gilka da Silva, 8/08

I visited Boston two weeks ago with my teacher, Debra, and her husband, Phil, and two friends, Mauro and Gilmar. We walked a lot and it was a wonderful day.

After lunch, Debra and I got a tattoo. It was my first tattoo and I liked it.

We passed in front of the aquarium but we did not enter because our time was already almost up. Mauro did not like this. He wanted to see the animals.

Gilmar gave us the idea to get ice cream just because he’s crazy for ice cream. He got four scoops and it looked like he wanted to get everything.

It was a wonderful day. Thank you Debra, Phil and Gilmar for making my Sunday very happy.

Our Route

We took the commuter rail inbound ( MBTA inbound train schedule) Framingham to Boston and got off at Back Bay Station.

We walked to Copley Square, along Newbury Street, through Boston Public Garden and Boston Common. We stopped at the red spot on the map to see the "Make Way for the Ducklings" sculptures. Named after a popular children's book.

Next, we went by the State House, Kings Chapel, City Hall and historic Faneuil Hall, seeing the red line of the Freedom Trail along the way. (We had lunch outdoors at the Salty Dog in the Quincy Market area next to Faneuil Hall. It was good food and the weather was perfect. See the purple dot on the map.)

After getting tattoos, we saw the harbor and the Aquarium before getting ice cream and walking to South Station for our train ride back to Framingham ( MBTA outbound train schedule).

We walked for at least 3.5 miles.
